13 Most Common Diseases Found In Jack Russell Terriers

11. Obesity

Jack Russell Terriers should have lean, muscular frames that suit their high levels of energy and their interest in exercise.

However, if you are not careful when choosing food for your dog (or if you are prone to slipping one too many treats under the table), your Jack Russell could become obese.

While you can tell if your dog is extremely overweight just by looking at him, it is worth having him weighed on a regular basis just to make sure that the weight is remaining within healthy limits.

If your dog puts on weight without any obvious cause, discuss this with your vet, as it could be an underlying health problem that is responsible (such as hypothyroidism).

Mine too. He is 11 years old. I think this behaviour is normal as they start getting older.
