The Beagle Freedom Project (BFP), an organization fighting the animal research industry, has recently rescued 38 Beagles in 11 different states, a noble accomplishment never seen before with test animals.
The group of Beagles that finally lived to see the light of day was categorized as “experimentally spent” and was ready to be euthanized.
Beagles make good test subjects as they are trustworthy and forgiving, in addition to adapting to a life in a cage better than other breeds.
Following their rescue, the dogs were released from their cages for the first time and walked freely amongst each other.
The BFP believes finding homes for these dogs will be difficult due to the degree of traumatisation but the charity organization firmly stands behind their evaluation that the dogs are adoptable and will continue to pressure animal research facilities to release animals held in captivity.
