Everybody likes a good and simple recipe for a DIY dog treat, especially if your blender does all the heavy work.

Folks over at Blendtec blenders have come up with this excellent, super-simple recipe for these tasty little treats that your dog will most certainly approve.

The greatest part is the addition of ground flax, which is a great source of beneficial Omega-3 fatty acids that will also make your dog healthier.

So, let’s whip up this simple, but tasty bite-size chicken treat for your dog.

Ingredients

  • half a pound of chicken breasts, cubed
  • water (3 quarters of a cup)
  • half a cup of ground flax (but you can also use oat bran or rice bran as a substitute)

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F
  2. Boil the chicken in water (reserve cooking water)
  3. Add cooked chicken and cooking water to your blender. With the lid secured, blend it into a batter-like consistency, then add ground flax and pulse until ingredients are incorporated
  4. Roll dough-like mass into 1-inch balls, and place on baking sheet. You can use the back of your spoon to slightly flatten the chicken balls bake for 20 – 25 minutes

Make approximately 30 treats, but if you have a smaller pooch, reduce the ball size to half an inch. The treats are to be kept in the refrigerator in an airtight container so they would last for up to two weeks.

Is your buddy’s tail wagging already?
