DIY Summer Treats – Pupsicles (Part 2)

Your pooch is simply going to love these icy treats, especially during those hot summer days. It takes only a few minutes to whip up these puppy ice pops, so let’s get started.

All of these can be made in an array of containers. For bigger dogs, use a popsicle mold or little Tupperware containers, but for the smaller breeds make sure you use an ice cube tray, for it is just perfect for making small-sized treats.

Burger Pops

If you had a barbecue recently and you have some leftovers in form of cooked hamburger patties and cheese, crumble them up and mix them with water or broth (don’t add any salt).

Blend the mixture, pour it into the container of your choice and pop it in the freezer.

Burger popsicles, who would have thought? But, wait…

Chicken Soup Popsicle

If you had chicken for lunch or dinner recently, don’t throw away the leftovers. Put them in a large pot, pour some water in and let it simmer for an hour and a half. Pick the meat off, discard the bone but keep the cartilage, meat, and broth.

If you have some cooked carrots and peas left, throw them in the mix as well. Pour the chicken broth into your popsicle mold and put in the freezer.

As an alternative, you can always freeze some store-bought broth, however, make sure it is low salt and that it contains no onions.
