Illness, parasites or simple underfeeding could cause your dog to become underweight.

If his bones are sticking out and he appears weak and lethargic, this means it is time to put on some doggy weight, and this delicious and nutritious recipe is a great way to start.

Yolk-Beef Balls

This recipe is used to help dogs gain weight after surgery. The egg yolks are used as they contain cysteine, the substance which has protective effects on the liver, while ground beef and peanut butter are high in calcium, iron and protein.

Ingredients you will need

  • Spoonfuls of rice and potatoes
  • Chicken broth (low-salt)
  • Sauces and gravy (formulated for dogs)

  • 1 jar of all-natural peanut butter
  • 12 dozen egg yolks
  • 10oz package of wheat germ

  2. When the mixture becomes homogenous, form it into balls and put them in the freezer for a few hours.
  3. Feed the Yolk-Beef Balls to your pooch as food supplements or treat in between his regular meals.
