If you notice your pooch’s teeth clicking it can signify an array of different things, inccluding simple mood swings, protective behavior,or possible dental troubles. Make sure you pay closer attention to what’s going on around your canine friend as he may need an appointment for a tooth examination.
Clicking out of Fear
If this happens when your canine friend spots a much larger dog, or a pack of stray dogs, he might be overwhelmed by fear and might not know what to make of the situation (especially if your dog is still a pup).
In these situations make sure you calm your puppy down, gradually, with affection or treats.
Potential Dental Problems
Teeth clicking can occasionally be a sign of a health problem, as well. If you notice that your pooch’s teeth are chattering excessively or that the behavior isn’t triggered by the aforementioned reason (playtime, excitement, protective behavior, fear), it’s important to have a veterinarian check your dog out as soon as possible.
Check for other hints of oral disease in your furry friend – chipped teeth, swelling of the gums, bright red or bloody gums, foul breath and exhaustion.
If you notice any of these symptoms in your pet, accompanied with teeth clicking, make sure you take your dog to the vet immediately.
