The time has finally come for you and your loved one to start living together but there is just one small matter of – your territorial live-in furry friend.

Getting your dog acquainted with your significant other may take time if the pooch isn’t particularly social, and when you throw living together into the mix you might have a problem.

Luckily, there are simple ways you can sidestep this issue and allow your dog enough time and space to get used to the new person living under the same roof without feeling threatened.

One of the first things are definitely frequent sleepovers during which the “guest” leaves his/her belongings around the apartment for the dog to get used to the smell. In addition to having the person spend the night, make sure s/he leaves things behind after departure for the same reason.

In terms of the actual move, it is advisable to start transferring stuff into the apartment slowly but surely. Moving 10+ suitcases in at once will certainly be overwhelming for the pet, but if those 10+ suitcases take a few weeks to occupy the space the pooch won’t mind as much.

In any case, patience is the key and no harsh moves allowed!
