Muzzle is one way of preventing your dog from chewing everything in his sight, but is it a good solution?

Yes and No. Let us elaborate. A muzzle a device via which you will solve the chewing problem, but only temporary. If your pooch starts chewing again as soon as you take the muzzle off, you will simply need to resort to more complicated training sessions in order to resolve this behavioral problem effectively and permanently.

Alternatives

The best way to train your dog not to chew is to supervise him and interact with him. You can also trick him by giving him his own chewable toy, or crate him when he starts chewing on your things. However, make sure your dog isn’t crated for long periods of time.

If catering your dog isn’t the option, make sure your home is dog-proofed while you’re away at work. Hide all those forbidden chewable items and keep the out of reach.

If none of these methods work, seek professional assistance from your vet.
