Fido doesn’t really care for vegetable, but you want to somehow implement these healthy veggies into his meals? Here are four easy ways to do so, without your pooch ever knowing it.
Grate a carrot onto his dinner
If your Fido is one of them, you can always mash a bit of cooked carrot into his dinner or dry them into carrot chips and mix them with his regular food.
He will be none the wiser, but much healthier.
Pumpkin
Mix a tablespoon or two of canned, pureed pumpkin into your dog’s dinner. However, make sure you don’t give him pumpkin pie filler, as it can be toxic for your dog.
The low fat/high fiber and water content will bulk up your dog’s meal, plus, it is rich in good vitamins and minerals like carotenoids, zinc, and vitamin A.
Broccoli
Season your dog’s dinner with the chopped broccoli flowerets, no matter if it is raw or cooked. Give it a good mix so your pooch won’t eat around it.
Broccoli is an excellent source of fiber, calcium, beta-carotene, folate, and vitamins A and C, while it is also low in calories and has cancer-fighting properties.
Turnip
Mash cooked turnip into your dog’s dinner and your dog will get his dose of healthy calcium and folate. Like broccoli, turnips are also low in calories.
In addition to mashed, try serving them dehydrated, baked, or raw.
