If the interior of your home changes each time you leave your dog alone, you have a problem. And while you may think this is caused by separation anxiety or some hidden form of aggressiveness, the reason behind it is probably something very simple – boredom.

Judge, Jury, Executioner

Don’t be fooled into thinking your dog is punishing you for something by chewing up the curtains, obliterating your pillows, or devouring half of your fridge while you’re away. Instead, this is something do when they crave attention, among other reasons.

Dogs, like humans, become bored when they start lacking physical or mental stimulation.

They become frustrated and decide to do something about it – and that’s when the chaos ensues.

However, your pooch can show boredom by a completely opposite behavior.

If your pet isn’t responding to its name or has seemingly lost all interest in its favorite toy, it has probably given up on trying to get you to notice it. Also, this can be a medical issue, so consult your vet if you notice this behavior.

Bottom line, no working person can be expected to devote most of their time to their dog for obvious reasons. That being said, you should try to fit your pet into your schedule by doing the things it loves the most so that you can save it (and your living space) from suffering.
