The breed is getting more and more popular in recent years, perhaps due to their compactness, good nature, and intelligence.
However, Papillon’s most important characteristic is that these pooches are a perfect blend of a family pooch and a guard-dog.
They usually grow between 8 and 11 inches (20–28 cm), and the weight average is between 7 and 10 pounds (3.2–4.5 kg). The most common color pattern is white, brown and black.
Temperament
Papillons are quite intelligent and self-assured pooches. They are extremely easy to train, and they are also pretty sociable and great with children.
However, they can be rather reserved around strangers, which makes them fully-fledged family pooches.
Although they are playful, friendly, adaptable, affectionate, and widely known as great companion dogs, Papillons might not be a great choice for households that have cats.
I have a papillon and he is the sweetest little guy. He tries to give a cat that hangs around our house a hard time, but the cat just nudges him and purrs. They have become sorta friends. There has not been a stranger that Mr Seton hasn’t liked. My guard dog is always ready to attack people with cute and adorable.
