Origin
The breed is commonly known as the Aussie and was developed on ranches in the western United States. Despite its name, the breed was not developed in Australia, but in the United States during the 1800s.
The breed rose gradually in popularity with the boom of western riding after World War I, and became known to the general public through rodeos, horse shows, and Disney movies made for television.
Description
The body is firm and muscular and the top-line appears level at a natural foursquare stance.
The chest is deep and strong and the ribcage well sprung. The loin is strong and broad when viewed from the top and the fluffy tail is straight and goes up to four inches.
As far as their color is concerned, the Aussies are usually black, red , blue merle and red merle, while each of these colors may also have copper points or white markings in various combination on the face, chest, and legs.
The breed is typically requires a great deal of exercise and attention as they are highly energetic balls of fur. They enjoy learning and practicing tricks, competing in dog agility, or engaging in any other physically and mentally involving activity.
