If you are looking for a highly intelligent and adaptable medium-large watchdog, this black beauty might just be the right pooch for you.
Origin
During the mid-19th century, railways replaced droving for herding livestock to market, and the Rottweilers became a domestic breed.
While still used in herding, Rottweilers are now used as search and rescue dogs, as guide dogs for the blind or as guard dogs or police dogs. If they are not protecting our homes, that is.
Description
Rottweilers are well balanced dogs, with high levels of endurance, proportionality, intelligence and strength.
According to “Rottweiler breed standard” FCI, Rottweiler breeders ‘aim at a dog of abundant strength, black coated with clearly defined rich tan markings, whose powerful appearance does not lack nobility and which is exceptionally well suited to being a companion, service and working dog.’
As for the color, Rottweilers are always black with well-defined mahogany or rust-colored.
Rottweiler usually stands from 24 to 27 inches (61 to 69 cm) when it comes to males, while female standard is from 22 to 25 inches (56 to 63 cm). The weight must be between 110–132 lbs (50 to 60 kg) for males, and 77 to 105 lbs (35–48 kg) for the ladies.
