Picking out a food for your pet isn’t always as simple as going for the thing it likes the most. In fact, many people are unaware that dogs require certain ingredients which aren’t commonly found in your average dog food. That’s why today we wanted to inform our readers on what to look for when they’re buying food for their pooch.

Easy As 1, 2, 3

Letting your dog eat the right food requires just a bit of knowledge and common sense. For starters, make sure that whatever your canine is eating contains significant amounts of animal protein sources which are high in quality and easy to digest.

Next up are whole foods. Fruits and veggies like peas, apples, blueberries, and pumpkin all have beneficial fiber and other nutrients that will let your dog have healthy digestion.

Finally, let’s not forget healthy fats. Contrary to popular belief, some fats are actually beneficial for dogs, don’t shun flaxseed, fish oils, and canola oils as these are the best sources of omega-3 fatty acids your dog can consume.
