It certainly takes a confident owner or trainer to raise a confident dog and it is sometimes astounding how dogs are able to mimic the personality of their owners.
Many experienced dog owners will agree that having a crate for a puppy goes a long way in raising a confident and balanced dog.
The crate appeals to the dog’s instinct to find a quiet secluded place (in the wild) to call his own and should help his psyche develop organically and create self-esteem.
It’s important never to force the dog in or out of the crate but to teach it to use the crate on its own while providing regular potty breaks. A healthy dog would never do its business in the crate (unless really small) and giving it the opportunity to do it elsewhere while feeling at home in the crate ensures your puppy will grow up to be a self-confident canine and a companion you can be proud of.
