Just like you are cooking and baking delicious stuff for yourself and your family, you can go that extra furry mile and make something nice for your canine friend as well.

This will definitely bring some extra joy to your home and get your whole family, including Fido, into the holiday spirit!

These homemade dog treats are super simple to make, so let’s get crackin’!

Peanut Butter Pumpkin Treat

  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 3 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons of all natural peanut butter
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

STEP-BY-STEP PREPARATION:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the flour, oats, and cinnamon. Stir.
  3. In a large bowl, mix in the eggs, pumpkin and peanut butter. Stir until combined.
  4. Pour the mix onto a floured surface, then roll the dough out to 1/2 thick.
  5. Cut out the pieces using a bone-shaped cookie cutter.
  6. Bake for until golden brown (typically 35 minutes).
  7. Let the cookies cool.

Sweet Potato Treats

  • 1 cup of canned sweet potato
  • 1 and 3/4 cups whole wheat flour (you can also use brown rice flour, or gluten free flour)
  • 1 egg (beaten)

STEP-BY-STEP PREPARATION:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, stir in all ingredients until dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls and place on a cookie sheet.
  4. Flatten out the dough by pressing it down slightly (the biscuits should be about 1/4 inch thick).
  5. Bake until golden brown. Let the biscuits cool before serving them to your pooch.
