Pugs are phenomenal dogs to own because of their playful personality and unconditional love for everyone around them, owners and strangers alike.

At the same time, keeping your pugs healthy and happy by dog standards poses quite a challenge to inexperienced dog owners or to those who simply don’t have enough time to devote to the pooch.

Regular professional grooming every month in the summer months is a must, while you need to clean the pug’s face every day to avoid skin irritation caused by humidity and dirt.

Using a damp Q-tip, gently remove the dirt from your pug’s wrinkles and stay away from any heavy products in the summer. Clean water can do the job.

When it comes to walking the pooch, although they’ll do anything they can for you and will never “say no”, pugs have a really tough time in high temperatures, so take the dog for a 3 to 5-minute walk in the morning, and another super-quick walk in the evening.

If you feel like going for a longer walk, find another companion and leave the pug at home. They won’t mind.
